1) Improve Yourself This Year
If you want to start earning more, you need to be constantly improving yourself and upgrading your skills to attract the attention of more employers. When was the last time that you attempted to make some self improvements?
Self improvement comes in a number of different forms. Learn a new language, take on a spin class, earn an advanced certificate, etc, etc. There are a lot of ways to make yourself more valuable to time. Many of them do not cost any money, just time. Aren’t you and your career worth the time?
2) Change Your Look
When was the last time that you upgraded your image? Like it or not, these things matter to potential employers. When you interview for positions your physical appearance is the first thing that is judged. Whether this is fair or not is for another discussion. Why not make your first impression the best it could be.
Changing your look could involve anything from a fresh haircut to a new wardrobe. If you are at a loss as to where to start, ask a friend or close associate.
3) Ditch A Bad Habit
Over the years we pick up a lot of bad habits, it is just natural as humans. Make it a point to ditch one of these bad habits.
Do you drink too much soda, waste too much time on social media or are you still holding on to a tobacco habit. Make this the year that you cut one of your bad habits whether it be a small one or a bad one.
4) Get Your Resume Out There
Making more money and advancing your career are what it is all about. By now you probably already know that the only way to do that these days is to move to a new job. Employers save the big money for the new hires.
Make it a point to dust of the resume and get it out there this year. Contact recruiters and do some networking on your own. Do not be afraid to make a big change if you want to get ahead.
5) Make Time For Yourself
All work and no play….. Be sure to take a little time for yourself and your family this year. Plan a vacation, even if only for a few days. Try to make it to more of your kid’s events and look up a relative that you haven’t talked to in some time.
